Morrissey owns this town

The eye-opening thing about the story which saw Conor McNicholas being made to move hotels when he found himself booked in to the same one as Morrissey is not the NME's "well, he got a better room out of it anyway" response, but the cheerful admission by Morrissey's team how niggling and pathetic their man is:

Merck Mercuriadis, Morrissey's spokesperson, says, "I have a very good relationship with the hotel, and when I explained the situation they agreed it would not be appropriate for Conor to stay."

Now, we can understand that, perhaps, Mozzer might not want to swan into the breakfast room and see Conor shoving his Wheaties into his mouth. But having him ejected is the work of a small man - the appropriate behaviour is to move yourself.

Actually, I think the appropriate behaviour is to stay put and act normal. Otherwise you still come across as a pompous, petty arse.

I agree with h. In life you have to put up with people being around that you don't get on with. If you really can't stand to be in the same place as someone then you move. Simple as that

oh come on who wouldn't eject Conor McNicholas from a building if they could? leave him two minutes and he'll be getting the place sponsored by a crappy hair product and plastering the walls with pictures of 3rd rate indie boybands....

I've never particularly cared for Morrissey's work, either solo or with The Smiths.

Given how many people I know revere him as some sort of musical genius I'v always thought I was missing something.

Increasingly, it just looks as if my twat-dar is working better than most people's

what was his beef with mcnicholes?

Did Morrissey actually know this was happening?

So if you've been staying at a hotel for at least a month and hear that someone you're involved in a court case with has boasted to another artist that he has deliberately booked into the same hotel as a windup, you should just meekly give in and move on to the next hotel?

If that's true then why see it as a challenge to do something even more petty?

If Conor did it to wind Morrissey up then surely the way to show moral superiority is to rise above it and just ignore him?

@Helen
If you're so thin-skinned that having that person stay in the same hotel is going to upset you, then, yes, you do. Unless you're about six years old.

What did Morrissey think was going to happen? Conor mooning him in the gym?

I'd have done exactly the same. Some idiot starts stalking me, and I'd have a word with the management too. Not as if he was slung out on the street.

If someone's stalking you, you contact the police. If someone who you don't like books a room in the hotel you're in then you either put up with it or fuck off somewhere else. It seems simple enough to me.

But then again, it's clear that I have far more common sense than Morrissey. Although that's not particular difficult really.
